In 2015, April shook up London's culinary scene by launching Three Little Birds, the city's first Caribbean Tapas restaurant in vibrant Brixton. Inspired by her culture and enhanced by her time on BBC's Apprentice, April created a haven where warm hospitality, shared plates, and rum cocktails intertwine to create unforgettable moments.
Rooted in her upbringing in Jamaica and enriched by her global adventures in France and New York, April's culinary style is a true fusion of flavours, a testament to her diverse experiences. Wood & Water, her latest venture born amidst the post-Covid landscape, boldly challenges the norms of Caribbean cuisine, ushering in a new era of innovation and creativity that celebrates British produce whilst showcasing April’s Jamaican soul.
A self-taught chef with infectious good vibes and known for her fiery character she has graced the screens of BBC's Masterchef and Masterchef The Professionals, as well as ITV's This Morning and Cooking With The Stars. Beyond the studio, April's love for food and people has led her to host prestigious events like the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival and Soho House Food Fest, captivating audiences with her charm.
Out of the spotlight she can be found catering to the palates of weddings, intimate gatherings, and corporate giants like Bloomberg, Dojo, and IMG. With each event, she weaves a tapestry of flavours, creating memories that linger long after the last bite.
As a proud Jamaican, April once donned the crown of Miss Jamaica Universe, representing her homeland with grace and poise, she is on a mission to firmly establish Jamaican cuisine in the UK's gastronomic landscape.
